Our 2009 Beckstoffer Georges III Cabernet Sauvignon 3L will be shipped in a Schrader Cellars wooden box.
The 2009 vintage's inky rich color and gorgeous flavors were well-balanced with fine acidity and smoothly woven tannins. The finished wines deliver a profound Cabernet experience with an extraordinary complement of super-ripe, rich fruit flavor, exceptional concentration, great natural balance, and monumental structure.
It is all about structure. We began the season with an incredibly dry spring where the last rains wrapped up in February. By late spring, wells were running dry and some growers were talking about having to walk away from certain vineyard blocks due to lack of water. Fortunately, a three-day rain storm at the end of May saved us. The remainder of the season progressed smoothly and evenly and, while the crop set was on the light side due to the earlier dry conditions, we were able to achieve optimal fruit development and ultimate ripeness. In the barrel, our young wines showed tremendous volume and weight. The inky rich color and gorgeous flavors were well-balanced with fine acidity and smoothly woven tannins. We are proud to report the promise of youth was amply fulfilled in the finished wines which deliver a profound Cabernet experience with an extraordinary complement of super-ripe, rich fruit flavor, exceptional concentration, great natural balance, and monumental structure.
Located in Rutherford on the east side of the valley floor, the Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard boasts a pedigreed history that dates back to the late 1800s. We source the grapes for our Schrader GIII from a small, specific section of the vineyard that was formerly a natural riverbed. The gentle slope and unique gravel and rock composition of this block produces stunning fruit with phenomenal concentration and character. We truly feel we have found the ideal “sweet spot” of this historic vineyard estate.
